The Arachne Minimalist - Vol 1 Num12 Clarence Verge ( ) Přečteno 151555x, 25 komentářů, rubrika: (en) Archive Personal hotkeys and your own personal keywords...
All Arachne users know about their programmable hotkeys, but some
readers may be coming from another place. They may not have heard of
the browser with hotkeys. Here it is ! Some day I will have to list
all the things Arachne can do that the FAT boys can't, and will never, do.
First though, today I would like to invite you all to visit
Clarence's Place.
Please don't just stare at the screen. Use your imagination. ;-)
Next, I suppose if you model your user hotkeys after mine, they won't be
yours anymore, so I'll just make a few suggestions on how to remember
what you have where.
Group them.
The keyboard has three groups of four keys. We can only use two in the
last group.
I use the first group for my personal Arachne functions and local URLs.
ShiftF1 is get mail and hang up.
ShiftF2 is send mail in outbox.
ShiftF3 is file:*.*
ShiftF4 is MIMEswap.
The next group I reserve for online URLs. But if you value the contents of
your cache, it might be best for you to avoid the use of shiftF8. There is
a chance you might miss the shift key and clear your cache.
We have two left. They are special in their location and shiftF10 is one of
the easiest to remember. Save them for some special functions. I have just
assigned MY shiftF10 to generate a complaint form letter.
I had wanted to talk about making and using your own Arachne.cfg variables
for some time now, but I couldn't come up with an example that I felt you
might be interested in. Today I have that example, and you can end up with
an entirely new Arachne screen if you wish.
Not all arachne.cfg variables must be used by core.exe. Some can be used
for information storage and transfer.
When Arachne encounters a line like:
INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME=Milk ARACHNECFGVALUE="Milk", she will create an entry
in arachne.cfg for Milk and set it to chocolate if that's what you enter.
Since Arachne has no interest in milk of any kind, she will then ignore it.
But you may make use of it in a form of your own and the window will be
automatically filled in for you. If you then decide you want lowfat milk,
just type it in and Arachne will change your arachne.cfg value.
Radio checkboxes work the same way, and the values don't have to be Yes or
No. You could select wine as red or white. Some restrictions apply.
Arachne can only handle a total of 256 variables. Avoid names that contain
Arachne keywords. Like, don't use "Portable" or "Textmode" etc.
See AEXTHTML.txt for the basic facts.
Using the "Send page or URL by email" portion of SAVEAS.ah as a starting
point, I have created a form designed to help you send your own standard
complaint to the email contact address for pages you may feel are poorly
designed or restrict your access in some way.
For more effectiveness, the complaint can be CC'd to some action center
like planetfeedback.com. Your ComplainCopy address will be remembered in
arachne.cfg, and your form letter will be stored in COMPLAIN.txt, which
you must create. I have a sample available that you should modify to suit
your tastes.
To use it, highlight the contact address by shiftENTER or right klik, and
then hit shiftF10 (for example). The arachne.cfg value for shiftFN must be
set to file:complain.ah. CntrlV will paste that address in the To: window.
In the near future, this will happen automagically I hope. The CC: field
and body will be filled in automatically, and you will have the option to
edit anything you like. That's it. Save to outbox or send immediately.
Pick up your copy at:
Clarence's
Complaints.
Have FUN 8-)
